If you are detail-oriented and enjoy numbers, Accounting is your program of choice. As a student in Accounting, you’ll prepare for positions such as accounting clerk, accounts payable/receivable specialists, personal income tax clerks, collection clerks, or professional bookkeepers. Special emphasis might also be placed on combining accounting theory and practice with the microcomputer with advanced computerized accounting classes. Upon graduation, many schools might encourage you to sit for the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) national certification. In addition, schools also provide students with the preparation needed to sit for the certified managerial accounting (CMA) exam as well as the certified public accountant (CPA) exam.
